UGC Launches PhD Excellence Citation for Top Doctoral Research

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has introduced the PhD Excellence Citation to recognize and reward exceptional doctoral research across various academic fields. This prestigious award aims to promote high-quality research and honor top scholars annually.

Key Features of the PhD Excellence Citation

  • Disciplines Covered: Sciences, Engineering, Social Sciences, Indian Languages, and more.
  • Selection Process: A two-tier evaluation involving university-level screening and UGC-level final selection.
  • Criteria: Originality, significant contribution to knowledge, robust methodology, clarity, impact, and effective presentation.
  • Number of Citations: Ten citations will be awarded annually, with two citations from each discipline.
  • Eligibility: PhD scholars who have defended their theses in Indian universities between January 1 and December 31 of the previous year.
  • Award Ceremony: Winners will be felicitated on September 5, commemorating Teacher’s Day.
