Board Exams 2026: CBSE and State Boards Gear Up as Class 10 & 12 Exams Begin in February
CBSE Class 12 board exams from February 17 to early April 2026
With the school board exam season underway, national and state boards across India are executing their 2025–26 schedules. The Times of India reports that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the final date sheet for Class 12 board examinations 2026, with theory exams scheduled from February 17, 2026, to April 9, 2026.
Motion Education’s consolidated Class 12 timetable update confirms that for CBSE, both Class 10 and Class 12 theory exams start on February 17, 2026, with all papers in a single morning session beginning at 10:30 AM. The Indian Express also notes that CBSE’s broader 2026 schedule for Classes 10 and 12 runs from February 17 to mid-March and early April, respectively.
State board timetables and why February 25, 2026 matters for students
Motion’s state-wise overview shows that several state boards are holding Class 12 theory exams through February and March 2026: Maharashtra HSC from February 10 to March 18, 2026; West Bengal HS from February 12 to 27, 2026; Karnataka 2nd PUC from February 28 to March 17, 2026; and Assam HS from February 11 to March 16, 2026, among others. For many students, February 25, 2026, falls in the middle of their board exam schedule—for example, CBSE Class 12 candidates have vocational or elective subjects around late February as per the detailed date sheet carried by national dailies. Students are advised to download the latest date sheets from their respective board websites—such as https://cbse.gov.in and state portals—and keep printed copies to manage revision and exam-day logistics.
