BHU Offers Free UPSC Coaching for SC, OBC Students

Introduction

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has announced the Free Coaching Scheme for SC and OBC Students under the Dr Ambedkar Centre of Excellence (DACE). This initiative aims to provide high-quality coaching for economically disadvantaged Scheduled Castes (SC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) students, helping them prepare for competitive exams and secure prestigious government jobs.

Program Details

The program offers coaching for Group A examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and State Public Service Commissions (SPSC). The course spans one year (12 months) with a total of 100 seats available. Out of these, 70% of the seats are reserved for SC students, and 30% of the slots in each category are reserved for female candidates.

Eligibility Criteria

The scheme is open to SC and OBC students whose total family income does not exceed ₹8.00 lakh per year from all sources. SC/OBC candidates from minority communities can apply under similar schemes of Minority Affairs or respective State Government programs. Applicants must possess a valid Aadhaar number and a bank account linked to it.

Selection Process

The selection process includes a written offline examination at BHU, followed by a personal interview at the DACE-BHU Centre. The program aims to admit between 50 to 100 students, with a focus on increasing the representation of SC candidates.
