About The Course

Semiconductors Fundamentals introduces school students to the technology behind the devices and systems they use every day. From smartphones and laptops to cars, satellites, and smart devices, semiconductors play a critical role in modern life.

Through an expert-led live session and curated learning resources, students will understand the basics of semiconductors and silicon, explore how chips move from design to fabrication and packaging, and discover how different types of chips power everyday technologies.

The program also introduces students to India’s semiconductor mission and the global chip industry, helping them understand why semiconductor technology is strategically important and how it is shaping future innovation and careers.

The program aims to help students understand emerging technologies, connect STEM concepts to real-world applications, and develop a future-ready perspective on electronics and semiconductor technology.

Dr. Noor Mahammad SK brings extensive academic and research experience in computer architecture, network systems, VLSI design, and high-performance computing. An IIT Madras alumnus, he holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Madras, along with an M.Tech. in Electronics Design Technology and a B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering.

Earn an IIT Madras Pravartak certification upon successful completion of the online certification examination.

Your final examination score determines the grade awarded on your certificate. Grades are assigned according to the following criteria:

  • Grade A — 85% and above
  • Grade B — 75% to below 85%
  • Grade C — 60% to below 75%
  • Grade D — 40% to below 60%

Candidates must achieve a minimum score of 40% to be eligible for certification.
