Ms. Abhinaya P is a certified Dance Movement Therapy practitioner from St. Mira’s College for Girls, Pune, and a professional member of the Indian Association of Dance Movement Therapy (IADMT). With a background in Bharatanatyam and a former career in the IT industry, she took a bold leap of faith into the mental health field. She advocates for the healing power of movement, music, and the arts, integrating them with psychology to facilitate self- discovery and emotional well-being. She has worked in the counseling department at The International School of Bangalore (TISB), applying Dance Movement Therapy to support students. Through ‘Anubhava Movement’, she now conducts workshops and private sessions, helping individuals reconnect with themselves through movement and creative expression.
This experiential workshop on Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) is designed to introduce participants to the therapeutic use of movement for emotional and psychological well-being. Ideal for mental health professionals, educators, students of psychology, and individuals interested in body-based healing practices, this session will explore how movement serves as a powerful medium for self-expression, integration, and transformation to access and process emotional experiences, as well as the role of the somatosensory system in emotional regulation and embodied awareness.
Mirroring, where participants will engage in reflective movement practices that foster empathy, validation, and relational healing. By the end of the session, participants will leave with a deeper understanding of how movement can be a pathway to healing, creativity, and holistic well-being. (NO PRIOR DANCE EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED)
